Victoria Atkins
Victoria Atkins, the field cataloger for the Aztec Ruins Historic Inscription Project, began her career in archaeology as a volunteer for the Chaco Project in the 1970s. After earning degrees in anthropology and geography from the University of New Mexico, she enjoyed a 35+ year career with the federal government, primarily at the Canyons of the Ancients National Monument Museum in Dolores, CO. Since 2014, Victoria has worked as a private contractor in interpretation and exhibit development for various national monuments and parks, and was recently appointed to the Bureau of Land Management's Southwest Colorado Resource Advisory Council.
Fred Blackburn
A fourth-generation Colorado native, Fred Blackburn was born in Telluride and remains connected to his birthplace as a board member of the Telluride Museum. He graduated from Fort Lewis College with a degree in Natural History and later obtained a teaching certificate in secondary science. Fred has a rich background in archaeology. Among other accomplishments, he has served as an archaeological protection ranger at the Grand Gulch Primitive Area in Utah, participated in the establishment of Crow Canyon Archaeological Center, and authored several publications. He currently works as an independent interpreter, guide, historian, author, and farmer/rancher in Montezuma County.
Logan Dean
Logan Dean, born and raised in Southwest Colorado, graduated from Colorado State University in 2018 with degrees in Anthropology and Sociology. Since then, he has been involved in archaeological research and excavations across the US, Canada, and Egypt. Logan has worked with the National Park Service, the Bureau of Land Management, and university researchers in the Northern San Juan Region. He has been a part of the Aztec Inscription Documentation Project since 2020. He currently serves as a dispatcher at Mesa Verde National Park while continuing his inscription research in the region.
