Driving Directions

The Center of Southwest Studies is located on Fort Lewis College campus on the mesa overlooking Durango, Colorado.

From Highway 160 West (Cortez) or Highway 160 East (Bayfield)

  • Head NORTH on HWY 550 (Camino Del Rio)
  • Take a RIGHT (EAST) at College Drive/6th Street (stoplight)
  • Continue straight on College Drive which turns into Goeglein Gulch Road
  • Go through roundabout and exit WEST onto Fort Lewis Drive
  • Take the next LEFT and first RIGHT and the center is straight ahead

From Highway 550 North (Silverton)

  • Take Highway 550 SOUTH until you get to the intersection of Highway 550 (Camino del Rio) and Main Avenue (Just past Burger King)
  • Veer RIGHT onto Camino del Rio (Highway 550)
  • Turn LEFT on College Drive/6th Street (second stoplight)
  • Continue straight on College Drive which turns into Goeglein Gulch Road
  • Go through roundabout and exit WEST onto Fort Lewis Drive
  • Take the next LEFT and first RIGHT and the center is straight ahead

Parking

Parking permits are required for all vehicles on campus during regular business hours from September to April.

CSWS Members get free parking! Be sure to obtain a permit from the Main office or the Delaney Library reference desk.

Summer parking is free!


Daily and Temporary Parking Permits

  • Click here to purchase parking permits online. You will need to print out your parking permit and place it in the lower left- or right-hand corner of windshield, fully visible. If you cannot print off the permit, campus police can reference your purchase via your license plate.
  • Parking is FREE after 3:30 p.m. on weekdays and all day on weekends.
  • For parking questions or for help purchasing parking permits go to Aspen Hall.
