Treasures of the Southwest

Treasures of the Southwest: Hispanidad! featured fine examples of huipiles, a traditional garment worn by indigenous women from central Mexico to Central America; also a beautiful display of charro outfits and other various artifacts rounded out this exhibit featuring the Center’s Hispanic collections.

In 2017, the Center of Southwest Studies was awarded a grant from the Henry Luce Foundation’s American Art Program to support the permanent installation of a selection of Southwestern textiles from The Durango Collection® in the Treasures of the Southwest exhibition.

For the first time in its history, the Center is dedicating a portion of its gallery space to both Ben Nighthorse Campbell and the Treasures exhibits to permanently display these collections.

This exhibit is currently undergoing a refresh and will reopen with a public reception on Feb. 20, 2019 at 5:30 pm.
