Looking Back, Racing Ahead: 50 Years of the Iron Horse Bicycle Classic and Durango Cycling Culture celebrated the fiftieth anniversary of the Iron Horse Bicycle Classic and explored Durango's rich cycling history and culture. Since 1972, the Iron Horse Bicycle Classic has brought cyclists together each Memorial Day weekend to race the historic Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad, becoming one of the nation's oldest continuously held bicycle races.
The exhibition examined the history of the Iron Horse Bicycle Classic alongside the broader evolution of cycling in Durango, highlighting the people, stories, objects, photographs, and artwork that helped establish the community as an internationally recognized cycling destination.
