Exhibit - Selections from the Durango Collection®

Thursday, May 13, 2021

While we always look for reasons to share our world-class textile collections, this pandemically-disrupted year demanded that we showcase the beauty, artistry, resilience, and joy contained within The Durango Collection®.

When you look around the exhibit you can appreciate the skill and tradition in these textiles as well as the universal designs reflected in the wall art of Hopi artist Duane Koyawena and Diné artist Landis Bahe. Building on the successful collaboration on PIVOT: Skateboard Deck Art, we are excited to highlight Hopi and Diné textiles both historic and contemporary that connect with the vibrant colors, universal symbols, and uplifting messages from our 2020 exhibit.

We hope that you will draw inspiration from the weavers’ connections to the natural world and their commitment to their art form and cultural practices along with the beautiful artwork showcased on the wall alongside them.
