This collection contains minutes, stock certificates, and other business records regarding the company town of McPhee which was subsequently flooded as a result of the Dolores Water Project.

Arrangement note: These materials are organized into three groupings (series) as noted below, and are chronologically arranged within each series.  The series are organized from highest hierarchical level to lowest; from most general to most specific.

Acquisition information: Mrs. Fred (Susan) McPhee Mahony donated these materials to the Center of Southwest Studies on May 7, 1981.  Its accession number is 1981:05001.

Processing informationThe collection was arranged and described by the Center of Southwest Studies' archivist Todd Ellison with the assistance of the Center's student archival assistant Rachael Black for folder data input.  This inventory was prepared by Todd Ellison, March 2005.

Series descriptions

Note regarding the organization of this collection: materials in this collection are arranged by series. The series are numbered consecutively. Because we do not expect to add to this collection, the boxes are numbered in one single numbering scheme starting with 1.

Folder numbers start with 1 in each box.  Items within each series (e.g., correspondence, reports) and within each folder are arranged chronologically, unless noted otherwise.

Series

1. Board of Directors minutes and annual reports of the McPhee and McGinnity Company (Denver, Colo.), 1928-1938, 4 folders.

2. Stock certificates of the McPhee and McGinnity Company (Denver, Colo.), 1919-1934, 4 folders.  A few loose papers are attached to pages through these four volumes, referring to stock sales, exchanges, attachments, voting, etc.

3. Other records and correspondence of the McPhee and McGinnity Company (Denver, Colo.), 1873-1938, 9 folders.

Folder 6           McPhee and McGinnity Company (Denver, Colo.) common stock certificates, 1923 July 17-1926 Dec. 31.  Inside the front cover of this volume are seven sheets and slips of various sizes, bearing typed lists of stockholders on dates ranging from December 31, 1923 to January 20, 1926.  The three longer lists include certificate numbers as well as names.

Folder 2           McPhee and McGinnity Company (Denver, Colo.) common stock certificates, 1927 May 31- 1933 Jan. 18.  Inside the back cover of this volume is a typed, undated sheet headed: "Record of changes in stock certificates on account of creation of voting trust."  It lists eight of the certificates whose numbers are included in this volume, but chiefly the numbers run from 17 to 289 (scattered).
