About narrator: Dr. Heidy came to Fort Lewis in 1955 as one of the first night students on the new campus on the mesa, then returned on 7/15/1962 as a staff member in various administrative roles including admissions and student life for 8 years prior to taking 12 months' sabbatical and 3 months' leave to obtain his doctorate in psychology at the University of Northern Colorado in 1969/70. He then returned to Fort Lewis College as a full-time faculty member in the Department of the sole professor of psychology. He was active on a number of College committees and programs as a faculty member, and as an administrator in the earlier period he pioneered the college's new student advising program, among other innovations.
