Historical Markers: 
A Campus Walking Tour:
C. Lindley Stiles

This stone marker is set in the southeast corner of the Library, on the plaza level.  It was given in support of the teaching mission of Fort Lewis College, in particular its role in training teachers.  Lindley J. Stiles was a student at the Old Fort Lewis campus near Hesperus, Colorado, 1931-1933.

The stone was vandalized in the early 2000s (as shown in the first image below) and was replaced with a fresh version in the summer of 2005 (click to view restored plaque).
