This collection consists of documents and certifications regarding persons born
abroad who were petitioning the La Plata County District Court in Durango,
Colorado, for citizenship in the United States, during the first four decades of
Durango's history. Due to their historically significance, the records in this
small collection are permanently valuable. These documents have proven to be
useful to genealogists and others seeking biographical data regarding La Plata
County pioneers and their families.
