Title: Rio Grande Southern Railroad switch at Rico (Colo.) depot
Date/circa:  1952-05
Photographer:
Subjects: Rio Grande Southern Railroad (Colo.); ; Railroads--Colorado--Rico--Switches--Pictorial works; Rico (Colo.)
Notes: Mile Post 066.24. Viewed from town, with leafless trees on the mountainside in the background. "This type of switch stand was known as a harp switchstand. They were really rare after the heaver rails were laid (originally 30lb per yard and later 52lb per yard.) The Rico Yard and Telluride yards is it obvious it is still the 30lb rail. Harp switch stands are good for three-way stub switches. See P026106." [Source of quote: Robert Herrone, email 3/27/07, with some text he drew from Steven Haworth's RGSRR website.]
