Folders are organized first by material type (photos, letters), then by the recipient of the letters. The letters within each folder are arranged chronologically by date, earliest to latest.

Scope & Contents   
This collection contains 122 letters to and from various members of the Hammond family (mostly to Mrs. Matt Hammond (Lizzie) and Leslie Hammond) describing life in Dolores, Colorado and the surrounding area. The letters are mostly family specific with mentions of agriculture, drilling, and other general subjects. The bulk of the letters were written from 1910 to 1918, while the inclusive dates are Feb 15, 1884 to Dec 23, 1959. Some photos and other miscellaneous memorabilia are also in the collection.

Access.There are no access restrictions on the use of these materials for research purposes. This collection is open to the public for use in the Delaney Southwest Research Library at the Center of Southwest Studies.
