Benjamin DuMontier is the CSWS Doctoral Fellow for 2017-2018. He is a doctoral candidate in history at the University of Arizona. Prior to coming to the Center in mid-August, Ben defended his dissertation, and will be providing a lecture on his dissertation topic that analyzes the reconstruction of racial and ethnic identities - in particular, the status of Japanese-Peruvians and government discussions on race in Peru before and after World War II.

While at Fort Lewis, Ben will teach U.S. History, revise his dissertation, and will work for the Center exploring more of the connections between Oral History and Public History.
