EVALUATION OF ANALYTICAL MODELS OF THE NATIONAL COAL MARKET (1982). 97 pp.

Type of Report:  Final Report

Abstract:

All models explicitly or implicitly assume national coal market is a competitive

market.  Coal reserve data available for computer processing by coal market

model were, with one exception, not originally designed to be used by coal

market models.  The exception is the reserve database compiled by EEA/ERC which

contains greater geological detail to allow more accurate estimates of future

mining costs.  Other models require statistical or other procedures to estimate

or overcome lack of geological detail.  Only USGS model attempts to estimate

future mining costs but would need similar procedure should it be enhanced.
