Notes: Blackington noted, "Members of the cult carry small crosses in procession to a hilltop where they crucify the `favored one'.Blackington noted that "Many northern N.M. hilltops are covered with these crosses, which are left imbedded in the ground after rites." "The man crucified does not die except in rare cases, but is usually taken down when exhausted. He is held to the cross by rawhide thongs."
