Welcome to the Robert Delaney Southwest Research Library and Special Collections/Archives

Where you'll do your research:
The Robert Delaney Southwest Research Library
Click here for the open hours and any closed dates.   For access during other hours, contact the staff ahead of time to make arrangements by appointment.  Due to state-wide budget constraints, we anticipate that the summer (May - August) hours for the galleries and the Delaney Library may be curtailed.  If making plans for visiting during those months, please contact the Center staff well in advance so that we may best serve you.

For more information, contact the reference librarian or the archivistClick here to use our E-mail Reference Request Form.  The Center does not have a budget for outgoing long-distance phone calls to answer reference requests, so if you do not provide an email address for our response you will need to be willing to accept a collect call from the Center.

How to do research here:
There are several ways to access descriptions of Center of Southwest Studies special collections on the Web.  Some information is available available in Special Collections and Information for Researchers, but for general research (especially if you are using the 16,000 books in the Delaney Research Library) the most powerful method is to use the Talon the Library on-line catalog.  Most of the Center's holdings--not just the books--are listed in this on-line catalog.

Talon On-line Bibliographic Catalog
Using Talon is generally the best way to search for a particular item at the Center of Southwest Studies.  The above link will help you learn how to use Talon.  Take me directly to Talon.

Special Collections
The Special Collections page has a list of the Center's holdings for which there are on-line collection inventories.  In addition there is other information for contacting the archivist, making photo copies, and a general description of the inventories.

Information for Researchers
This is where you can find policies for research at the Center of Southwest Studies as well as procedural forms for research and some links to useful tools for research.
