Policy for Use of the Center of Southwest Studies for Speakers and Guest Lectures

(adopted at staff meeting on Nov. 14, 2001).

The Center of Southwest Studies encourages Fort Lewis College groups and partners to hold special lectures that pertain to the Southwest and to the mission of the Center.  Due to the Center’s unique issues relating to building security and staffing, speakers who are not addressing a Southwestern topic are encouraged to use other facilities, especially if the planned event is scheduled for a time that is outside of regular instructional hours.

The Center’s Director reserves the right to allow speakers, meetings, seminars, and conferences to use Center facilities when topics may not fit the Center’s mission but will generate income or publicity that ultimately benefits the Center.

A fee structure for use of the Center is applicable for all uses beyond scheduled academic classes.  The director may waive this fee for non-profit groups whose programs and events complement the Center’s mission and its goals.  The Center’s fee structure will be reviewed annually.
